Product Description
The application of Trimble 3D technology in the upgrade project of Jorge Chavez International Airport in Peru
I. Project Overview
Scale and Objectives : The project is located in Lima, the capital of Peru, with a total investment of 2 billion US dollars. It aims to expand into one of the largest airports in Latin America, with an expected annual passenger flow increase to 40 million.
Technological breakthrough : The Trimble 3D automated mechanical control system was introduced for the first time in Peru 's infrastructure sector, marking a milestone in the technological upgrade of the country' s construction industry.
Ii. Highlights of Trimble Technology Applications
Millimeter-level construction accuracy
In the construction of the new runway (3,841 meters in length), a 70,000-square-meter apron and 10 kilometers of internal roads, the Trimble PCS900 3D paving control system and the Trimble GCS900 slope control system were applied, achieving an asphalt and concrete paving accuracy of 5 millimeters , which is far superior to the design requirement of 10 millimeters.
The runway is paved with 40-centimeter-thick asphalt in three layers. Double pavers operate in a cascade to form hot joints, completely eliminating the risks of water seepage and freeze-thaw cycles.
Efficiency and cost optimization
The 3D automation system significantly reduces human errors, enabling the asphalt/concrete laying tasks to be completed ahead of schedule. At the same time, it lowers the rework rate and overall costs, far exceeding the efficiency of traditional construction.
The tolerance control of the base construction meets strict standards, and the automated operation of the motor grader significantly enhances the flatness of the base.
Data collaborative management
Integrate centimeter-level precision data collected by devices such as laser scanners and drones through the Trimble Connect cloud platform , and synchronize 2,700 active BIM models to on-site devices in real time to solve the problem of data silos in super-large projects.
The design data is directly transmitted to the construction equipment by using Trimble WorksManager, and the completion data is returned in real time to ensure that the construction fully complies with the owner's standards.
Iii. Industry Impact
This project verified the reliability of 3D automation technology in complex infrastructure scenarios, setting a benchmark for "technological breakthrough" in Peru's construction industry and promoting the transformation of construction methods from traditional to digital innovation.
