What types of forces does the cutting blade primarily endure during operation?

The cutting blade primarily endures the following types of mechanical forces during operation:

1. Cutting force (primary cutting force)

When cutting or processing materials, the cutting blade primarily endures the primary cutting force (Fc) perpendicular to the processing surface. This force directly acts on the cutting edge and transfers energy along the cutting direction.

2. Impact and vibration loads

During high-frequency operations (such as crushing or cutting hard materials), the cutting plate is subjected to dynamic impact forces and vibration loads, which can lead to fatigue damage. In such cases, components like the cutting plate spring washers can help distribute pressure and absorb vibrations.

3. Friction and Wear Forces

Friction forces exist between the cutting plate and the material contact surface, especially during high-speed cutting. Friction can cause tool wear, necessitating improvements in wear resistance through material selection (e.g., high-manganese steel) or surface treatment.

4. Shear and Tensile Composite Stress

When the blade cuts into the material, the local area is simultaneously subjected to shear stress (on both sides of the blade) and tensile stress (at the top of the cut). When the combined stress exceeds the material's limit, the material is cut.

5. Lateral compression and dispersive forces

The thickness of the blade increases gradually from the cutting edge toward the blade body, applying a horizontal outward pressure on the material, separating the cut surface, and widening the cut.

The synergistic interaction of these forces determines the durability and efficiency of the blade, and the design must be optimized based on specific operating conditions (such as material hardness and cutting speed).
